Mark began his music career as a guitar player. He received his first guitar from his parents, Don and MaryAnne, as a 12th year Christmas gift. Lessons were broached but soon ended as Mark became disinterested in the abc's of beginning guitar once discovering the rock music chords played by the stars of the day. Consequently, Mark became a self taught musician.
Soon after learning songs, by ear and eye, from favorites such as BTO, ZZ Top and Aerosmith, Mark and his friends realized creating their own songs was the way to catch peoples attention. Throughout his teenage and young adult years, Mark played numerous club and concert dates performing original material. During this time, Mark also gained valuable studio experience recording many demos.
In an effort to become a more rounded musician, Mark began to explore other musical instruments including keyboards, mandalin and percussion toys. Such versatility kept him quite busy during recording sessions. Mark continues to look for new and interesting instruments to challenge him. His repertoire now includes acoustic harp, lyre and oud which can be heard on his instrumental projects.
In addition to his instrumental music, Mark has collaborated with vocalist David VanLanding on a soon to be released cd (hear samples at www.davidvanlanding.com ). A lot of people are looking forward to this release and would love to see live performances of this material. Mark plans to continue writing, recording and releasing his instrumental music in the meantime. Originally from near Toronto Canada, Mark now lives in the desert of Phoenix Arizona.
